im sorry in advance for the retorical post but my computer is down so im posting from my cell phone and i cant search. anyway a few days back i noticed the framiliar burn oil smell. first thing i did was check the valve covers and they appear to be fine. the smell is only present when the turbo reaches full spoole ~15psi. its a stock ct26 that ive been running like this for well over a year so i wouldnt be suprised the least. anyway any other possiable explinations for burning oil under boost?

bad rings allowing alot more blowby. have someone follow your car and see if you have any smoke. even when my turbo went out completely i didnt burn that much oil.

know its not a full answer but its a start

When my turbo went bad, it would smoke out the exhaust all the time except for when i got in boost. It wouldn't smoke nearly as much.

Smoke from tailpipe.

1) Leaking valve seals. (Pretty common on older engines.)
2) Rings worn out. (Not likely without other damage present.)
3) Clogged up drain line on the turbo. (Causes oil to back up in the CHRA, and then push past the piston ring type seal, causing oil burning out the exhaust...)

Seal is not bad. Search IJ's posts, he describes this much better than I do. :)

Cure?
Check your compression. Should be within 10% of each other across the cyc's. If you have a lower one, add some oil. If compression comes up, your rings are worn. IF not, you have a bad valve. (But that's another story, and would not cause your oil problem.)
Does your car smoke worst when you've just driven down a hill, in a lower gear, using the engine to keep the car slow? (When you get to the bottem, hit the gas, and SMOKESCREEN!) IF so, it's likely your valve seals.

Clogged up oil drain? Clean it out. Use synthtic oil.

Good luck. :)

After the car has sat overnight pull of the intake and move the turbine around. It is ok if it moves up and down just a tiny bit, in and out play is bad. Also check to see that the fins are bent of pieces are missing.
