Burning coolant somehow...

Well heres the story.

I start my car up (NA-T 7mGE wit hTurbo electronics), and i get a pretty bad blue/purple smoke. (fuel)

As im driving it and look behind me, there ALOT of blue smoke. After i drive it for a second or two, and i slow down or stop, i get massive amounts of white/grey smoke. And it smells like exhaust. Not really sweet like antifreeze, but jsut like *exhaust*. You know when you start your vehicle up in the cold and get that regular exhaust smoke? Its JUST like that, just ALOT...

The vehicle drives fine, but the smoke is terrible so i stopped driving it. I pulled the plugs today and ALL looked great except # 6 which the threads of the plug were soaked in oil, and the bottom of the plug was very dark colored and looked to have a coating of oil....

Next, i did a compression test, and the number came out something along these lines:

Next: My turbo is NOT coolant driven and only run on oil.

Recent things ive done to the supra before i started having problems: Intercooler upgrade, and an oil change. I blew off a coupler the other day as well.

Question: Any ideas on whats wrong with the car and what could be causing these problems?

Anybody? Also between the downpipe, and turbo, the gasket area is moist and smokes when running.

Turbo's used and abused. Would the turbo create blue smoke even IF m NOT boosting? The blue smokes not on my high worry priority list.

The grey/white smoke is whats the real problem.

I second the blue smoke from the turbo. Cryoslash knows why.

Are you sure the white/grey smoke is not just normal condensation? It's getting alot colder now and all cars do this at this time of year.

100% positive. You dont understand how bad it is. I am going to post up a picture in a second, but its about 55-60 degrees out right now, and its to the point that after letting the car run for 30 seconds to a minute, i can not see my house.

This is after about 30 seconds of running, it gets much worse as time goes on.

I did a compression test last night and the head gasket seems to be in perfect condition. It DOESNT smell like antifreeze either. It smells like exhaust. Thats the ONLY way to describe it/ No oil smell, no fuel smell, no coolant smell.

155 across the board.

If the exhaust smelled sweet, i'd say you had a BHG for sure, and I still think it's a possibility. Compression tests don't usually tell you if you have one. You would be losing alot of something with that kind of smoke, if you're losing coolant that's probably your answer.

Pick up a coolant tester from napa to see if you have exhaust in your coolant, that test always worked better for me.

Hey s83, any updates yet? Your problem is the same thing that is happening to my car. In the morning when its cold and i start it up after 1min or so it starts smoking and smokes like you but its regular white smoke and smellls like exhaust. If i drive the car it goes away but if i downshift from 3 to 2nd for a turn and accelarate, a puff of smoke comes out and the color is light hint of blue. Within the first 30min of driving and i stop at a redlight i see smoke coming the back to front. But after driving longer than that, if downshift to nuetral a few hundred feet back and come to stop then no smoke.(its emabrrassing to me when that happens at the light) If im driving slow through a parking lot which i feel bad for the people who wait for me to drive by, i leave a small cloud of smoke behind me for them to walk through. I don't feel hardly any loss of power. Now this smoking started after i removed my Catalytic Converter, so it is one of the reasons why im seeing more smoke than usual. Are you running without a Cat Converter??

However, my flex pipe broke and has a hole where the gases are leaking and i lost little of power about 1psi. I already ordered a Divorced Downpipe, which will replace that. On the accordian hose right by the inlet of the turbo there is a crack almost an inch long, but this Monday i will be replacing with COOLEEZE ceramic inlet hose.(i doubt it will fix that problem but it makes me feel a little better since i wont be seeing that crack anymore.) Next week i will leave the Car with my Mechanic/Friend so he can take a look at the whole thing. What i think and what other people told me was that my turbo seals are wearing out and since its the original turbo it may be time for a new one.

Heres what happened:

The turbo seals we SHOT. It was from an original turbo, and wasnt known to be in the best condition. I kept upping the boost, driving it HARD everyday at 12 psi.

Even though my turbo wasnt coolant driven, and i was still getting white smoke, it made me wonder. I took the downpipe/elbow off to inspect the back of the turbo. As i loosened the bolts, what seemed to be a solid liter of vanilla/chocolate milkshake poured all over the garage floor. "o shit"

I thought this could lead to either bad turbo seals, and oil leaking past, or a BHG. My next step was to see if the milky colored liquid was coming from the motor. I pulled the turbo off the manifold and the inside of the manifold was completly clean 100%.

So that means: My turbo is blown.

57 trim from Arron. I gotta send you a picture of my motor now, youd be very very proud! Ive sepnt hours and hours and hours on it in the past two week, since i had a bit of an accident at 12 PSI in second gear, and oil covered everything
