spare no expense if you want more than 500...and like stated, a LOT of research is in your future.

youll read of people making 700+ on stock everything and hella boost, and then duanes 1000hp+ magazine car and most of all-7m hatred and how for the same price you could swap a 2j...stock 2j, but atleast THEN they say youll be headache free. that being said, i kept my 7m because i found a shortblock that was too cheap to pass up. gave it a thorough going over and after the prices all tallied up i spent 1400 and the cost that the previous owner spent was well over double that price, plus the fact that it was still 100% new (but this cost is for shortblock alone)

if youre wanting parts brands examples then you should be ready to hear all kinds of hearsay, most people just go by word of mouth, not actual experience...be sure you get the facts.

There is a dyno thread on supramania on people making above 700rwhp on stock block, stock pistons, stock rods, stock crank, stock head with minimal port and polish, stock cams, and stock valve train. I have by no means built a high horsepower 7m but have been researching and researching on what I'd like to do. I'd say the stock bottom end would be fine for around 800. But IJ said it best to me, start talking to people who have built a high hp 7m. Read build threads, get as much info as possible. Hell, PM some of them and as long as you ask smart, contrite questions they will be more then willing to help you out.
