so tomorrow is the day. im tearing my car apart cause the head gasket is blown. i am going to deck the head .010 i believe is the number my friend told me. well im just wondering if you guys have any helpful tips i need to know. not my first head gasket change. but first one on anything but a sbc. also should i buy new studs or use the same ones? what is the recommended torque? any other tips are greatly appreciated. heres a pic of my motor and one of my sweet car... while i have it apart any upgrades or things i should do in anyones opinion? my first supra sorry for all the dumb questions but gotta start somewhere...

you need to clean the engine bay!....you use it as a portapotty?

And don't listen to your "friend"! You only deck what is needed...let the machinist tell you what is to be removed!

You only take off just what you need to to clean up the head.

There is a stickie that Ma70 put in the stickies on maintainance that has a lot of useful info, study it. Then if you have any specific questions post them :)

you should take pictures of everything you do.... like a step by step, then post it here so I can learn about it so I'll know what to do when mines blows.... it'll be helpful....:icon_bigg

Already several in the build threads. A pretty good one by Suprarxnut sorry if I got your user name wrong.
