Just need some opinions from you guys. This is my second post but have been around Supra's since I was 8 (1985), needless to say Supra's are my passion. My DD is my dads 85' Supra, all original 91k miles auto great car. I also own a 87' turbo which at the moment is not running because I removed everything from the engine compartment except for the block. This hastely performed idiotic process was done because at the time i was going to rebuild the head and, replace the head gasket along with all the usual upgrades (steel hg, arp, etc). Well that was last December and I'll have bout 2,500 in Jan. for the car. I was thinking about buying a used motor from japan and upgrading it with the aboved mention and I also have a 60-1 sitting in my tool box. The 87' has cooleeze exhaust from turbo back, intrax springs, tokico blue shocks, CDS rotors, ss brake lines, and other supportting mods fyi. So what would you do, build the motor I got now, or replace it. I want about 400@ bhp. Some opinions would be nice. Thanks

if you already have an engine torn apart, i would go with the one you got. you already know the condition of it. plus you can use the money to put some extra stuff in it. 400 is not a hard goal at all. there are many guys on here running those numbers. IMHO i would go with the engine you have. just my 2 cents.

I Agree, Go with building your current motor. Unless there was block or crank damage...

I have had 2 JDM motors spin bearings on me. You never know the condition of those imported motors... I'll never use another with out rebuilding it first.
Sure they offer a start up guarantee but they don't against bearing spinning later down the road.
