Hey guys and gals, Just want to make a post to help people with there rebuilds. I'm in the possess of finishing an engine for my buddy. When he brought the car to me, the company that messed it up put all of the shims in a BAG. Well after putting every thing in the car and doing a compression test, we could not get good compression out of cylinders one and two. We had a intake valve leak. The head was complete re-done, and the bottom re-built. After looking at the TSRM all I could find out about the bucket shims was how to check the diameter of them. We figured out that there is two different sizes, a taller one that goes on the exhaust side and a lower one for the intake. The problem we had was we accidentally had three of the taller ones on the intake side. Once we measured them we were able to get a great compression test of 150 across the board. Hope this information helps, always try to keep the same shim in the right place. I will post some pictures of the engine in the car as soon as I get it all finished.
