Yesterday I was driving my car shifting from 3rd to 4th gear when i felt that something is wrong with the trans. The clutch pedal didnt fully return when i shifted. I lift the pedal with my foot, but it went down again. After a while, the car drove fine and the clutch pedal fully returned and seemed to be fine. A couple of hours later, i launched my car in first, tried to get it into second gear, but it wouldnt get in gear. I up shifted to 3rd untill i got to a gas station and parked the car. The shifter got stuck in 3rd gear. I shut off the engine and forced it out of gear. Then, i tried putting it in reverse, but it didnt get in gear. Now, it gets into all gears except for reverse. The car doesnt drive in 1st or 2nd gear, it basically cause a contineous (barely noticeable) grind. In 3rd, 4th and 5th gear, the car drives normally.

What do you think it might be? broken fork? bad syncros? clutch? or just the whole thing beeds to be changed?

thanks in advance.

Thanks a lot for the inputs and the kind words.

I have been looking for clutch kits that wouldnt cost over $300. I found this one at ebay

have anyone heard of that brand before? My goal is building a 450-500whp 7mgte. So thats why i likes the hp rating of the clutch.

any recommendations?

ok, I bled the lines, and looked through the service panel. Everything seem to be functioning correctly. I could barely hear what sounds like grinding when the car is in nutral. The sound is coming from the flywheel/clutch area.

I didnt have the chance to lift the car and drop the trans., and when I do, ill have to do it within the same day. Does it sound for sure like a clutch problem? I dont want to spend my money on a clutch and find that its the tranny. So PLEASE, give me your best guess.

Sounds like your slave & or master cyl have taken a crapola on you.

The cheapest clutch kit by far and best bang for the buck (basically stock) is one made by LUK.

IIRC the whole kit is only $195.

But i mean, the slave seemed to be pushing fine. I bled the lines and there were a lot of pressure. Why would you still think that its the slave and master?

Because of the fact I have had my hands on so many supras with a problem such as yours...

90% of the time it was the slave, master or a combo of both.

The other parts were due to contaminated oil and the sycros being welded together or sludged together.

way to clear that up for him........

Anyway, I'd have to agree with everyone. My 82 is having the same probs, learn to drive it as it is, or spend some time and fix it. Hell, just order that cheapy clutch, a new MS and a new slave, and you'll still be under $300.... and U wont have to worry about it for quite some time, provided you can drive...

No, I haven't priced the MS or Slave, so I may be wrong.

A new master and slave will be about $100 from autoparts. I would rather get a good clutch since it takes some time to drop the tranny and put it back on.

The reason why am sure that at least the master cylinder is good is because i was getting getting a GOOD pressure while bleeding the lines. I think that just for the heck of it, i would get a new slave/master/clutch and drop the trans. and see how things are looking. In the WORST case, i would change all that, put the trans. back and have the same problem. I guess a i would be looking for another trans. then.
