broken power steering valve...

Well i just found another part my roomate broke... just happens to be one of the little tubes on the power steering valve. its the side that connects to the intake. i was wonering if this needed to be connected to work or not. since its before the throttle body its just like being vented to atmosphere right?, except i know its probly routed there to get clean air. Just wondering if i could run it without for a couple days. Thanks much! Heres a picture...

I have completly removed that system from my car with no ill effects. Your idle will go down about 50 rpm or so when you turn the wheel at idle standing still. Not a big deal in my opinion.

ditto. i removed mine, too. though, i was already used to constantly reving the motor (though you dont have to, it just makes it easier to steer) because my old daily driver, a '71 chevy c-10 liked to not run, ever, when it came to parkinglots! haha.

^^ right. It is there to keep the idle at spec (650-750rpm) when turning the steering wheel while stopped at idle.
The connection to the intake air duct is to get filtered air, because it is actually an air bleed directly into the throttle body, which is why it raises the idle.

I would just plug the port on the throttle body, remove the vacuum line to the valve, and move on with life.
