I have to replace one of the front wheel studs on my mk3, My question is, What size is the Hub nut I think it might be 30mm? And once i take that nut off will it just slide out of the bearing assembly or do i need a puller? Any advice from someone thats done this is appreciated. Thanks guys

Iirc its a 36mm. Maybe someone else can confrim.

But you might have to bang it out a little like with a rubber mallet, then it will come out and you can bang the stud out. have to repack the bearing or get new and repack before installation.

Its such a pain on the front ive been putting mine off for 3 years.

Edit pure drifter on the front you do. For abs cars i know for sure you do. Pretty sure it was all tho.

The reason i have to take the hub off is because it has the anti lock brakes and the cover on it so i cant slip in the new stud and i cant find a hole anywhere on the backing plate.

Ima just cut a small hole in the rear cover and plug it with a rubber grommet insert, It will save me from pulling a hub, if in the future another stud breaks...:evil2:

I would even bother plugging it. Its not like its going to hurt anything if theres a hole where your never going to see.

If one has broken good chance the rest are fatigued from morons with rattle guns over the years...

in my area the dorman supply is low from all of the tire shops ;) lol.

ive seen guys try to put the lug in by tightening the nut. Lol.
