Hello all, I want to get some more feedback and knowledge about these cams and cams in general.

Application: 1991 Supra Turbo, MHG, KN, CT-26 60-1, Cooleze pipes (all done by Matt) stock intercooler.

Plans: DDP-R, high flow cat, Tanabe SMH exhaust, BBK.

Goal: RELIABLE daily driver with 300-ish + RWHP nice low end torque. (if I reach close to 400 by default fine, but it's really not my goal)

I don't race or go to the track but I like a little spirited driving and quick pick-up. :icon_razz

I was talking with Matt last night and he was telling me I should get some BC cams to give my 7M some more life and spunk. (I do like how cams make the engine sound) :biglaugh:

Can everyone share their experiences with these cams and offer sugestions and a little layman explination on how they work and the changes that the BC cams would provide.

I'm slowly learning this stuff.

THANKS!

I dont think the cams are needed at all once you put on a DDP and full 3" exhaust on the car if 300ish is your goal.

A lot of other upgrades are way more worthwhile before you get cams...especially with a 300 HP goal. Even going to higher HP, extensive head work will pay off more, and is necessary to get the flow through the head cams will provide. Your $$$ are better spent elsewhere ;)

hell, on a ddp, and some other minor upgrades, i made 289rwhp, 295rwtq on a STOCK ct-26 @ 15psi. (with chipped impeller blades, and lots of shaft play)

do i recommend doing that? no, but it can be done. also, i dyno'd on a mustang dyno, which read low (supposedly more accurate?)- if i had been on a dynojet, my numbers would have been in the 300rwhp area.

With your application (60-1, DDP, etc) you should see close to 300 very easily. Cam's won't be needed.
You could go LexAFM+550's or Maf-t and be sure you're above the 300rwhp mark, and have some room for more power later on.
But you might find with everything you have, around 12psi you'll be satisfied.
Then again if you're anything like the rest of us you'll be wanting more power again in weeks.:naughty:

ive got far less into my cams and they are just as good (in fact a little better cause they weigh less then bc cams). I purchased my valve lash caps for $75ish from schnider cams, and got my cams reground to my specs for less than $80 per cam. my specs were 268, 218@50, and 342 lift. very similar to the bc 272 cam, and i don't have to run the required bc spring and retainer kit, which will set you back another $320. So i have just over $200 invested in my cams. I haven't put them in yet, but i expect at least 30 rwhp on pump, plus a more usable powerband. I think buying the bc cams is silly. Check out more about them here..... http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=55800

I come from a land down under
Any improvements made to the motors VE will tell across the entire range, build a really nice efficient motor and it will drive well off boost as well as make more power on boost.

Cams are a part of this.

Did Anyone get there BC cams and install them yet? i always see people asking about power gains and people posting that they will dyno compare them but it seems to be never be followed up with.

Id love to see some dyno sheets of these compared to stock with same setup.

You guys need to bumb over to the NA 7M tech, and look at this thread:

http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=56763

There seems to be issues with the BC cams.

I know mine looked like crap, so they got sent back.

I turned around and bought some used TODAs,
that like most things frm Japan,
have great workmanship.

But yes, totally not needed if 300 HP is the goal.
Adj. cam gears would help, but a FMIC would help more......

Hell, I'd chip in $10 or $20 along with a few other fellows for dyno results. If I can be assured a 30rwhp gain, I'd consdier buying the cams.

if you're talking about the cams i got, you'll never know. i plan on dynoing soon, but i never got a baseline run with my last set-up, so I'll be going off the seat/butt dyno. However, I'm moving from a 61mm to a 70mm turbo. the car is going to make more power, and ill dyno this set-up for sure.
