Not a proper ring gear break in...

What is? Something like 4-5 warm ups of about 20 min of driving with a complete cool down in between? Then maybe 500 miles of driving afterwards? Perhaps a fluid change after that?

I might have done something like that before the 2 min burnout. The title is a Joke....."breaking in" as in putting it through it's first abuse.

Mostly it's heat cycling and downshifing so the gears mesh on both faces (acceleration and decelleration).

Just sayin, if you didn't do it you'll make the gears very brittle.

This is something I never got. I understand about developing a wear pattern and breaking a rear in. But making them brittle? The rear end will never generate close to the heat the gears saw in the hardening process. I've also been confused on that and why it will make them brittle.

What was the crackle on the top end??

rev limiter? Could also be the exhaust, it's grossly oversized for the power I'm making now. It's still a y-pipe setup. Custom job done by me, 3" mandrel bends into a flowmaster dual 3" in/4" out merge pipe (the y pipe), 4" electric cutout, then narrowed back down to the stock catback.

Was guessing limiter but didn't sound like it was revving hard at all :)

Made your bud in the GTO's effort look gay by comparison!

The advantages of a line lock. It's still on the stock limiter at 6250rpms. With the 4.11's it revs up real quick! That burnout was using 2nd gear.

LOL maybe 3rd next time you have tires that need destroying :)

Sort of reminded me of Crocodile Dundee, "that's NOT a knife, that's a KNIFE"

"That's not a burnout, That's a BURNOUT" and a smouldering pileOrubber.

WTF was your bud doing lighting them up in reverse?
(could have ended in tears)
