use dino oil.........
start motor, idle until it's nice and hot....
drive at half throttle a few time...
gun the motor to death.....
Change oil to new dino oil....
Gets you the best ring seal.

It was on a thread somewhere about how to break in your motor the hard way or doing it the soft way.

so dont use just a normal synthetic for first breakin. and i know about going at least 1000miles before taking the revs about like 3500.

Many different views on this, many different answers. Some say soft break, some like me say hard. Some say a bit of both, so who really knows anymore. The only true way to test this is to drive 2 identical cars, one from each method and decide once and for all. Who's up for it?

What I did was, (from advice from this forum)
Run straight 30w with no additives,
pull the EFI fuse and spark plugs,
crank motor until you see good oil PSI,
put back in EFI fuse and plugs,
with someone watching under the hood for you,
sit in car to watch gauges,
start motor, let run for a sec or two,
then bring up the revs to 2k and hold it there for 15-20 min,
let off and check timing,
shut it off and look for leaks, check fluids ect.,
take out and drive, try not to keep revs steady,
get to where you can drive between 30-60 mph with no traffic,
put it in 3rd keep it in gear, and run up to 3-4k and let off (keeping it in gear)
let it run down to 1.5-2k and run it back up to 3-4k,
do this about 20 times.
drain oil, replace filter, refill with 30w oil again,
for the next 100 miles dive the car without hitting boost and dont rev too high, and try not to keep a steady rpm for too long.
Then just drive it normal without beating on it, but don't baby it either,
After 500 or so, drain oil, replace filter, and use normal oil.
Then.........have fun.

That is the, "best of both" approach I guess.
