I can't figure out how to put the brake pad back into the slots on the front side of the caliper. It's like the caliper stops the pad from sliding into the slots.

Hmm... you may need to post a picture. The pads should slide in from the inside and go right into place. I'm not sure how the caliper could be stopping it. :dunno:

Do you maybe need to push the piston back into the caliper?

i had that problem when reinstalling my pads.you have to push the pads together and make sure that nothing is stopping them.they should then neatly slide in. if not...something is wrong with your brakes....

The Caliper slides back and forth on the upper (front) bolt. It can be stuck in position to one side. The sliding action allows the caliper to move back and forth as the pads wear down.
If everything is free as it should be it all will fit with no problems.

Pictures? The pads install while the caliper is off the bracket. No issue. If the piston was pushed back with the proper tool, or a C-clamp and old pad, there will be a gap and it goes on very easy. After it is put together, you pump the pedal to bring the piston back to the pad.

Yeah none of that worked I used a c clamp already and the piston isn't the problem. But I'm just going to replace the calipers with new ones.
