Brakes not stopping good.

I just had my engine rebuilt, and just got everything back in the car and running, but now have a couple issues....

1. My stock boost gauge sits at 0 when I turn the car on. it used to work before I pulled the engine.

2. my brakes do not stop good. when I first crank the car it has a "normal" pedal but after pressing it again the pedal is really hard to push and is very hard to stop the car...the car is driveable but would really like to get this fixed.

any info/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Josh

is there a way to check the brake booster? and I guess i'll try to bleed brake system and see if that works too.

thanks for all the info so far.

my first clue would have been the boost gauge sitting at "0".
bad vac connection. and do you really have to take the brake lines apart to rebuild a engine? what part is in your way?

look for a bad connection on a vac source first.

First, sorry for posting in the wrong section.

2nd, there is no vacuum at the "T" on the back of the firewall...the brake booster has vacuum. I compared the vacuum lines to my 88t and all seem to be in order.

I didn't to my knowledge move any brake lines.

Thanks again
