So this other 87 1J I picked up has brake issues. I can push the brake pedal almost to the floor before the pads finally grip. The pads are new. The back right rotor is barely getting touched at all by the pads. The brakes are well bled, and I'm not loosing any brake fluid. WTF is going on? Brake master cylinder going bad? Or do I just need a new set of rotors all around?:1zhelp:

My vote is for a bad master.

Something is not allowing the pads to squeeze. First fluid hits master, then through booster to lines to calipers. I'f you're not losing any fluid AND the pedal goes to the floor, I'd be nearly positive you've got a brake master issue. I've dealt with the brake master 2 times in the last 2 years. (different vehicles, neither a supra). Both would force you to nearly floor the brake pedal to get braking power.

Is there any sign of fluid or gloosyness on the metal just underneath the brake rod going into the master?

it might be the brake pistons. they might be worn out. do this, remove the pads and the brakepiston from the axle. have someone step on the brakes while you watch the pistons. if the piston doest seem to respond to the brake presure that might be your problem. GL with your brakes.

Edit; what he said ^

yeah it is somewhat stupid. Look for an ABS modulator under the hood.
Follow the plumbing from the master cylinder if they go to another item with alot of plumbing that would be it.
