hey its almost time for me to torque the head on. Both surfaces are resurfaced and i have a cometic headgasket on the way. A local mustang enthuisiast told me to use copper spray on the gasket and brake quiet would'nt work. Wich would be better to use?

Listen to IJ ;)

Using spray sealer of any kind on a NEW MHG will turn the factory coating into goo...not good! The coating on the cometic MHG will seal just fine...use ARP hardware and torque to spec. The Cometic MHG requires a surface RA of 50 or less...both the head and block surface needs to meet this spec.

Yet ;)!

99% of the time it should be fine but I found when I started pushing hard it blew the Flourine Coating out and caused a mild BHG on the dyno.
(one of the ingredients used in pressure packs disolves the rubber)

IJ when I dynod last, I only did two pulls because I noticed antifreeze coming out of my radiator after the second pull. It wasn't running hot, but that kind of scared me. Of course you already know I'm a sissy. Should this concern me?

Sorry fot the hijack corewitz.................lol

That's exactly what I plan on doing. I went and bought a 12pt 14mm 3/8 drive socket today. I'm going to do it this weekend on mine and my wifes car. I don't know what they torqued her head down to on the new motor. I will search and find the right sequence to do it. I think I will go to 85 psi. I'm not supposed to back them off any first and then retorque am I? Should I just go to 85 without backing it off a little? As usual, thanks a million................lol

i too did copperspray. My machinist told me its what he's been using for years. Great for heat transfer from iron to ally, seals nicely. Looks cool too (if that counts for anything) Ive previously used hylomar blue spray, Had no problems with it on mls hg's.
