ok doesnt apply to the supra but a toyota truck but oh well brakes are brakes

first problem. calipers locked up hard and my dad drove it home and could see smoke coming from rotors and pads.

i changed calipers.
flushed lines, found some goey 17 year old brake fluid bits floating arround in brake fluid reservoir. just flushed and it was ok

ran fine for a month then brakes start lockign up again, pedal is stiff as all hell only has about 1 inch of travel, so i figure damn must have air in it. i bleed the brakes. PRESTO FIXO. runs great. so then mom comes home today in the truck. same shit, smoke coming from the pads and rotors and i can smell the burn. and i can hear the metal popping as it cools down. i feel brake. rock hard (engine is on) and only abotu 1 inch of travel. almost like having a brake pedal stuck up. but calipers locked.

so i bleed again. again fixed drove it arround stops on a dime full pedal travel. its just fine.

put it in driveway and i had my mom step on brake as i followed the ilnes looking for a noise like a clack everytime she steps on brake. i find a small little box where the brake fluid lines from master cylinder come into. and two little outlets leading to each wheel and some cord/arm comign off of it to some bracket that doesnt appear to do anything. i hear this clack, so i figure this brakes system has one of the following

-damged brake line letting air into the system
-that box thingy is broken and is choking lines causing fluid to get locked in calipers.
-that gunky stuff that i found first is still hanging out and is clogging all sorts of crap
-master cylinder is sucking air

what do you guys think, telling dad to take to midas and i want to TELL them what to look for cus they know how to get things to spec but SUCK at diagnosing stuff.

thnx.

if it was air in the lines the pedal would be low and squishy. like it would travel to the floor because the air can compress. you said you changed the calipers? with new ones or from a junkyard? if they were from a junckyard did you rebuild them? thats all i can think of for now. i will muse on it during chemistry.

Stuck check valve in master cylinder. Probably caused by all the chunkies floating around in the system.

Just cleaning the system probably won't do it. Your gonna have to really flush the hell out of it and more then likely replace that master cylinder or it's gonna keep happening

thnx i figured the thing would be toast sooner or later. just gotta flush each individual line for now and flush master cylinder over and over.
