Looking to maybe put a BOV on a stock '90 Auto. I know they have an AFM, so the air is recirculated not exhausted. So, is there any point upgrading to an aftermarket BOV? And if so, what is a BOV that will work with the Stock AFM setup?

well no BOV will work perfectly with the stock set up, only bypass valves, or if you recirculate your bov, but then its really just a bypass valve. There is no point in upgrading it if you are completely stock, people buy bovs for the sound they make or if you are well above stock you need it to prevent compressor surge. You can use a bov just fine on stock afm if you want the sound, when you shift the car will run rich momentarily and can occasionally cause you to backfire, but its no big deal. I run they HKS SSQV on the stock afm without any problems at all. I have heard that some bovs leak all the time which can make you idle rough, but the HKS is impossible to leak and sounds awsome

I think we'll save our money and leave the bov stock. I'm just gonna do mods that help efficiency out. like Downpipe, hi flow cat, cat back. Those mods don't "eat" gas. Not doing anything to kill our milage.

1) If you are concerned about gas milege...i did a comparison between my greddy type S and stocker.

The difference between normal to heavy boosting on a full tank of gas was like 250 miles per tank on the greddy type S and about 260 for the stocker...not much difference

However when I would shift before i built positive boost...say around 2-2.5 rpm every time...i got about 300 miles on my tank.

So the Bov really doesnt take away too much of the gas.

2) I heard of some people running a stock bov or porsche bypass valve with an aftermarket bov on the intercooler piping at the same time.
