heh, when i put my head on (just a few days ago) i made the same exact mistake. i had to pull all the studs back out to get the washers on. :( oh well, live and learn!

however, i just followed the TSRM torquing method. i did three sequences. started at 35ft lbs, then bumped it up to 65ft lbs, and my last sequence was to 95ft lbs. just make sure you pull on the torque wrench evenly so you know you get a good accurate measurement.

it'll hold fine. (Sorry:() when you're torquing it to such a higher number, say from 35-65 ft lbs, you dont need to back it off. you wont need the extra clamping force simply because of the thicker HG.
