Is anyone using one of the boss turbos at hpfreaks? I'm looking at the 550hp turbo for the time being, as the GT3540R will be used on my new engine, but that is a while in the future. I don't wanna put wear on it running it on this engine at a lower boost. I'm looking at the 500hp rated model. Should that put down 500 whp or 500 flywheel? I guess either would be fine. What PSI are you guys running these at? Whats the spool like...as in when does boost come on, and when is full boost? Let's see some dyno charts and such!!!

I don't think this motor will do much more than 500 hp.... Its forged pistons, stock rods, stock crank. Its also a budget rebuild, but so far its run great for 17000 miles. Right now, its putting down 300 or so whp without a hitch.

What do you guys think?

All Boss Series turbos are HP rated @ the crank. There are to many variables to consider when trying to ESTIMATE rear wheel HP. All Boss Series turbos use high pressure wheels and are 35 PSI capable. Big shaft is recomended for added durability. The stage 4 combinations are faster spooling and good for street use while the stage 5 has a bit of lag, but with the DBB option you can pick up the lost response and even build boos @ idle.

fith forged pistons it should hold way more then 500rwhp. a friend of mine had a stock rebuild with the exception of forged pistons and a hks mhg and ran a t04b 60 trim at 22psi and then a 150shot wet foger on top of it for 5 years, et streets, 3 puck unsprung clutch etc... and had no problems from the engine except his constant retuning for more power. he was too cheap to put it on the dyno so did lots of "street" tuning. and literally means on the street. had 550's, f-con with 550 chip, stock maf, npr i/c, 2.5in i/c pipes, 3in exhaust, and then the turbo on the stock manifold with a pipe welded to the turbine housing that was about 6in long and then the flange for the wastegate was welded to that pipe. worked pretty good and he had the wastgate rerouted to the exhaust as well. so if you think 500 hp is th limit for that motor, i dont see how unless your on a stock hg or something

that is my personal limit. There are too many people around here killing stock engines with stock CT26's.....I guess that kinda has me worried. But why push it harder than 500?? Its still my DD right now, until I get the new engine done, and the corolla road worthy....

Can the divider be "modified" slightly to fit?
