boost leak?

ok. so i finally got my car somewhat running- it ran... smoked quite a bit, wouldnt revv past 5500rpm- and didnt spool till 4krpm (ct26, 60-1 compressor wheel, stock turbine wheel with 20 degree clip)... i decided it was road worthy... took it out for a test drive, and about a mile into it i heard a slight 'pop' halfway thru second gear, the car started running like crap, and would no longer revv past 4krpm, not to mention it wouldnt build boost, so the bov wasnt opening, and it stalled a couple of times while i limped it back home...

my first thought was -oh great, i just fried something internal- or some sensor- or the timing belt jumped, or something along those lines...

but upon talking to the previous owner... he informed me that when i acquired the car in the first place, there was a small cut in one of the lower ic pipes...

im still getting used to the mk3 supra and to maf/afm cars in general, and was wondering if this boost leak could happen to be the original source of my problems- and when test driving im assuming that the leak simply got bigger, which is why it runs so bad now-

any input would be highly appreciated-

Yeah, it will run like shit with a hole in the i.c. pipes. Check for holes, and make sure the clamps are tight. Let me know if you find a hole in it, and if you can't find any more i.c. pipes. Are yours stock? I may have a hose if you need it. Good luck..............lol

yeah my ic pipes are stock, i havent had a chance to check yet. school and work are keeping me a bit busy- but ill be sure to check over the pipes after work tonight and if there are any holes ill try to do a temporary patch to see if it runs any better..

Totally sounds like you popped a hose. You might have blown a hole in one or it just slipped off the coupler. Is the smoke black?

Well I would highly reccomend a hard pipe kit. My friend and I made our own, sent stock hoses to shop they sent back mandrel bent 2 1'4 inch stainless pipe, we could have got aluminum but it was 200 dollars more so we deal with the steel. Cost 200 flat for all pipes and 30 for couplers. The cars are both fairly basic tuned but run great and we noticed stronger pull after I assume because stell has less resistence than the stock hose. Good luck man.
