Is it normal to get lower boost in first and second? My car did this since it was stock, now first and second is about 10 PSI and 3rd and 4th is 16 (BTW I have mods and BC) Just the turbo running out of air at higher rpm? Basically at low RPM under load I get tons of boost. I know Saab has a thing that limits boost in first and second or so I herd whats the deal with toyota? oh BTW my PS cap says "toyoda" in factory print haha what gives?

in different gears theres a different load on the engine, different loads on the engine result in differing boost levels.

about the PS cap, i think thats the phonetic spelling of toyota from japanese.

a lot of cars have a factory electronic boost controller which is controlled by the ECU and does not allow the car to hit full boost in the lower gears. I know that my does hit the same boost in every gear. Lagged is right that it does depend on the load, but with our cars it wouldnt be a drastic difference.

Very normal Porter,

Turbos love load and in the low gears there just isn't enough to load the engine before you run out of gear!

Put a heavy trailer on the car and it will make the 16 psi in the low gears.
(or point it up a big hill)

Or put on a bigger turbo, make 15+ psi in 2nd and light the tires up.

Turbo's work on HEAT. Put more load on the motor (via gearing) and it produces more heat. The ct26 is grossly inefficient and pointless IMO. Just had to add that. :)

for your first post i can see you are gonna need some help. the ct26 is a great turbo but it does have its limits. people have made high numbers using the stocker and it has been proven to flow over 12 psi before it is out of its efficiency range (think more like 16-18) just what kind of power does your car put out?
