Every once in a while when i start my car up my autometer boost gauge does nothing. it will read 0 psi no matter if i boost or not. then if i drive it for a couple of miles it will all of a sudden start to work normally. it happened today and i got out and looked for kinks in the signal line(mechanical gauge) but i didnt see any. could it be the gauge? i bought it brand new only like a month ago. anyine else hade a problem like this?

How long have you had it? When I first hooked my autometer up it read vac fine but would not read boost more than 5 psi. Sometimes it wouldn't read any boost. I got like the cheapest one HPF had so I wasn't really that surprised, but after driving around and boosting it just started working and reading boost correctly. I think that they might need some time to break in.

one of my friends is having just the opposite problem. I got him a new Autometer phantom mechanical boost gauge for Christmas and it worked fine when we first put it in until a couple weeks ago when he installed his AVCR - now it won't read above about 5psi, even though the AVCR is reading about 1 bar (14psi)

yea I've been looking at the Defi gauges for a while... Just can't justify spending that much money on gauges while I'm pretty much stock... Oh well the AM works alright for now.

I got mine used and I haven't had a single problem with it yet. Mine's even saved my engine :p My mechanical boost guage just randomly decided not to work one day and i hit 18psi on a badly tuned engine. Thank god I checked the guage!

Edit: I am was only running 15 psi max because my afm/o2 sensor was acting up.

PS. S-AFC and AVC-R install next week

it kinda sounds like Autometer is having some problems with their stuff.

i've only had mine for about a month or two. and this only happens like once or twice a month. i guess i'll just leave it and not try to boost to high when it doesnt work. i tryed to save oney when i bought this gauge cuz i only wanted something that works(ironically), i guess you get what you pay for. :dunno:
