I replaced every vacuum line I could find and plumbed in my HKS EVC 4. I attempted to "learn" the stock boost with the evc, which didn't quite work. I did the first run, where the evc displays an "L", and it beeped when i reached stock boost. Then, it displays an "H", and I run it again, but this time it doesn't controll boost at all and I hit fuel cut. I decided to skip the self learn mode and manually put in the stock boost setting at .45 bar. Once again I get on it and hit fuel cut (evc showed .65 bar when it hit fuel cut). Its not controlling boost at all. I orginally was using it on my sentra with a 38mm external wg. I never had a problem with it. I checked all my vacuum lines are still attached tight and verified the switch postion on the back of the unit and made sure the vac lines from the stepping motor were installed correctly. Anyone have any ideas?

Did you shim the wastegate? Are you boosting higher than stock even without the boost controller?

The boost controller will only control boost higher than what the stock spring is. So if you are hitting boost cut without the boost controller, you can't lower the boost with a boost controller. You have to find out why you are boosting so high that your hitting boost cut.

You know I have the same problem with my hks evc3. It refuses to learn. I double, tripple, and quaduple checked all the hoses and even took the filters out to make sure it wasn't a line restriction problem.

I could do a pull fine in 4th or 5th with the BC on, but in 1-3 it was boost spike city.

The wastegate is not shimmed and I am not trying to boost lower than the stock boost level. The wastegate opens at 6.5 psi sourced at the compessor outlet. I was trying to get the evc to learn where stock boost is set. My problem is that it isn't controlling boost at all, its not allowing the wastegate to see pressure when it is told to do so. I know the stepping motor works because it allowed the wg to open during the first step of the learning process, after that it isn't working quite right. I'm going to play with it more when its not raining. Wet road + boost spike = unintentional drifting.

Got it to work today. I put the #2 hose from the stepping motor straight off the compressor outlet. Left the #1 hose t'ed from the IM vacuum port. I also completely reset the EVC and started from scractch. It learned stock boost @ .39bar and I set the high boost to .7bar. It controls boost 1st-4th @ .7 bar but in 5th it goes to .8 bar, oh well. Boost control FTW!!!11!!1
