hey guys,

tyring to help out a buddy. he has a Syclone and it's smoking out of the valve cover hole and the exhaust. it's a tint of blue. Burning oil.

now my question is, what could the smoke out of the valve cover be a sign of?

he had a person build his engine about a year ago. so it's supposed to be fully built.

later

at first he thought it was the turbo. he pulled it and got it rebuilt so the turbo is fine. we will do a compression test tomorrow and see if it's the rings.

it's not a little smoke it's like puff you can't see the motor...not that bad but it just doesn't look normal

yea the syclone is a turbo 4.3L v6. it was faster than lots of the super cars back in the day. i believe the motor is similar to the grand national

That 4.3L v6 motor is a 350 with the 2 back pistons cut off. Nothing like a 3.8L grand national motor. Stout little iron motor however, just was never intended to be a turbo motor.

Smoke in the valves... Hmmmm... Anyone consider it may be the PCV system not evacuating that out? I know as Supra owners, we jumped to the worst possible conclusions, and rightfully so, however, my GMC Sierra was doing the same thing, turns out I had a bad PCV, replaced it, no more smoke...
