Blowing smoke... looking for direction

During normal driving my car doesn't smoke at all, but if i get on it in first gear the car will blow a considerably large cloud of smoke. Generally speaking i baby the car and keep it in vacuum so it seems to me like something is loading up. After the first initial cloud, if i continue to beat on the car, it will no longer blow any smoke.

I haven't quite decided what the smoke is, but I am leaning towards oil over fuel just because my car is currently bone stock. More than anything else the color looks like a musty grey. From my knowledge, oil is blue-ish, and fuel is black, yet it doesn't really match either description.

The valve seals were done along with the head-gasket in December 2004 or about 15000 miles ago, but I'm not going to rule anything out. I was thinking it'd be the turbo over the valve seals or rings but it'd be great if i could get some opinions and maybe a little direction.

thanks.

long branch
gray/Blue smoke - oil

White smoke - coolant

black smoke - fuel

Try to determine which one you have, or a mixture. PCV system? You said valve seals and hg were done, why did they need to be replaced and who did it, and what brand/type, and did they reuse the bolts, and what toqrue is it at? do a leak down or compression check. I wouldnt put money on the turbo, because they generally leak under vaccum not under boost, but it could be that.

My car only smokes while boosting....and only if I haven't boosted for awhile, I'm guessing cause oil builds up in the boost hoses and once under boost it blows it through and it burns...

I know my problem is the turbo seals.

I'm guessing you have the same problem.

Let's just say that it has abolutely nothing to do with the headgasket. Stock toyota headgasket and arp studs torqued to 74lbs... Head was machined and block was refinished.

The rest of the engine seals were replaced with felpro units. A toyota tech friend of mine did the install on the seals. They didn't need to be replaced, I just decided to do them with the headgasket job along with every other gasket and seal we encountered during the job.

Those are basically my exact symptoms. My thought was that there is oil leaking into the turbo (building up) that burns off when i hit boost for the first time in a while.
