Black smoke ahhhhh!!!!!

I own an 88 mkIII supra. Stock 7mge engine. Two days ago it started running REALLY rough and expelling black smoke. I dont know if this is the cause but the same day i had to drive it in a pretty bad rain storm. (Newport news VA) i was going through some really big puddles on the road but it seemed to handle them pretty well. Parked my car, handled a few things, started it again and it was having these issues. another thing i noticed is that the third fuel injector back from the fire wall was unseated due to a really loud hissing noise. I dont doubt that's part of the problem but im having a hard time believing that the fuel injector alone could be causing these issues. So please, anyone with ideas as to what i can check please say something!!!

I think that it means you are running very rich. I believe your ecu or fuel controller (standalone or whatever you have) is not getting the correct air fuel ratio signal it should because of the giant leak you say it has at the injector. Air leaks are bad. Just go over your engine and replace old gaskets and rubber hoses and seals.

That fuel injector could have been causing a large vacuum leak. Also, if it was sounding like a loud hiss, it could be just pouring fuel in as well. You say you doubt it's causing your issues....I say it likely is.

Why don't you think the device that sprays the fuel into the engine is the cause of the fuel in the engine?

I just doubted that the fuel injector would be the only cause just because ive had a leaking injector before and the car never ran like this, but im sure now that its the main issue. I really appreciate the thoughts and ill go ahead and re-seat it and go over all the hoses.

I'm just guessing but it sounds like you have a lot going on. It's all in the manual.

Sorry guys, been a while since i could update this since i've been busy with work. I havent had time to try reseating my fuel injectors. And only 2 weeks ago was i able to fix my electrical issues. Theres mold all over the driver seat and the carpet so the whole interior is pretty much trashed :nono: it really sucks. Im debating selling the car without the engine. not sure if id be able to get even $300 out of it though. I am planning on saving up for another mkIII with a 7mgte and an r154 tranny. And then from there i can do some things to that engine. I might just take the block from the engine i have now, since its remachined and only has 30K on it, and bolt it on to the turbo head. Install an FFIM and maybe get a better turbo later :naughty:
