Bigger turbo without the bigger boost?

I am purchasing another supra soon and the only issue is the turbo is burning oil.

The engine has 107k on it and has a felpro headgasket torqued down properly with arp studs and a machined block and head

I want to make a little more power than stock as I go on, but only have the money for the car right now.

I want to replace the turbo with one with a 60-1 upgrade, because to spend the money on a stock one seems stupid if I am only going to upgrade later, but only have it boost at stock 6psi until I can begin getting the engine ready for more (maintenance, injectors, lex afm, etc)

I am new to turbos and would like to know if I purchase a big turbo say 60-1 would I just need a boost controller to keep it down?

any relatively cheap models that go good with a supra?

Thanks for all advice and suggestions

when u upgrade the ct it will still be at stock boost. 5-7psi just more air flow. no need for a boost controller when stock.

My reported results from the stock Ct-26 at just under fuel cut, was the same, on the CT-26/60-1 at 6psi, now when I shimmed the actuator with 4-5 washers which took it to about 9-10psi, the seat of the pants feeling was very noticeable, and was much easier to kick the ass end where I wanted it :burnout:.. Keep in mind this is on an A340 box:nono:

my supra will be auto for a while till I change it

so there is a very big difference between stock boost and increasing it just a little bit to around 10psi?

I'm not sure if I want to turn the boost up until I'm sure all the fluids are changed, do a compression test, and a couple other things, but will keep this in mind

I'm 57 trim and about 10 psi. And yes.

if anyone has one for sale let me know...

Does anyone know any shops around Massachusetts south shore that rebuild turbos and can upgrade them?

Can't really afford driftmotion right now, but I have a feeling that their price will beat any local price I can find around me

Yeah idk but driftmotion is really the way to go it seems like. Any local place i asked wanted too much, and with driftmotion you know you'll get quality.

Go with Driftmotion - Aaron won't let you down :)

57 trim @ any psi flows more air than stock @ same psi, so you'll get more power ;)

or if you wait until you have the money, check out suprasports comp series turbo. they have a 57 trim. great quality stuff and they offer a installation package that supplies you with all the SS lines and such.
