I was wondering if anyone has ever swapped a big block into an mkiii. I have a 455 from a buick that is sitting in my garage and im thinking about putting it in an mkiii. If anyone has ever done it, please let me know how difficult it is and what you needed to do to make it fit/ work. (fabrication). Thanks in advance!

I come from a land down under
Biggest single hassle will be the belt drives for accessories.

The rest is basic fabrication as there's room between the towers to make it work.

Where is the Buick starter mounted?
(BBC is good for me being RHD their starter is on the left side away from my steering)

i would think all you'd really have to do is build custom motormounts and maybe reinforce the crossmember to support the exta weight do a little rewiring.

step 1. get yourself a mk3 with no engine or drivetrain
step 2. get big block V8
step 3. mock up V8 into mk3 and then determine how difficult shit is going to be after that.

I think a 455 is a great choice. SUCH a torque monster!

YAY maybe someday I'll work up enough points with you so you don't completely hate me for cancering myself :biglaugh:

Until then, on with the torque show boys!

Not to turn this into a I want to put such and such motor in a MK3 thread, but since owning the T-type I had. I've wanted a turbo Buick motor in the Supra like something fierce.
I'd honestly sell my 1J setup right this second if I had the means to do it.

There's been V8 swaps done before, and I think a couple big blocks. Don't think they'revery well documented though. Do a search for "V8" or "V8 in a mk3" here on the forum.

Tanya: "Hate" is such a strong word ;)

It doesn't directly affect me so I couldn't possibly hate you for doing it.
(and you have a nice shaped arse)

Everyone watch out, Ian is horny!

As for the V8 swap, there's been a few, and only a couple done. At least the ones that have the balls to post it. Mock it up and see how it fits, as everyone else said, just basic fab work is needed if it doesn't conflict with steering and such.
