Riding around town my car gets kinda warm, a little over half way. It just started doing this the other day. I did put a 14 inch electric fan on it last week. I don't have to be boosting for this to happen. Its fine on the highway, but gets warm around town. I think the fan may be two small and I might need two 14 inch fans to really cool it. What do you guys think about this? Or it could be a BHG, but its not loosing any water at all.

:stupid:

either way...ive said it before and ill say it again...if you think its a BHG why not do the simple tests to find out for sure one way or another.

frankly it could be a bunch of small things..but if it JUST started happening after you put the electric fan on..thats most like your problem..try putting the clutch fan back on and see if your problem goes away.

i bet the fan isn't flowing enuf... had the same problem... i even had to put two (admittedly 10") on there, and added two stock air con fans.. and still did it LOL... once i ripped them off and stuck the clutch fan back on mine was awesome

just try the clutch fan again and see what happens :)

well... i would get that thermostat back in there
all you are really doing with no thermostat is constantly running the same temperature water thru the whole system and it's not getting a chance too cool long enough

i would think the fans coming on at 155 is ok... just try a thermostat back in there and see if that changes things

can i ask why you aren't running the clutch fan anymore?

I had that overheating problem before, all I did was replaced it with a lower temp therm from the 190 one, I think 160 might be the lowest you can go for this car.

If I have the money I would replace the clutch fan too :). It really loud when the engine get warm up and on hot summer day. At low rpm you actually hear the fan over the engine and exhaust. It annoying sometime.

You do need a thermostat to slow the water down while it is in the radiator so enough air can pass thru to cool what is in the radiator. That may be why it works on the highway. Do you still have the stock fan with the 14" one?

There may be some trash in the rad fins or inbetween the rad and a/c condinsor which will effect effeciency. That fan clutch is needed to get the fan to spin fast enough at idle and traffic speeds. Maybe you can get one from a junkyard.

A fan clutch can be had from a parts house for about $80. A thermostat is a must. A 180* is easily gotten. A 160* is not going to help, as these engines run warm any way, and you'd be over 160* in a couple of miles.
Be sure to snip off the toggle on the stat, and drill out the hole to 4-5mm so the system will allow the 'notorious air' to bleed into the radiatorio. Put the hole up, and the spring towards the rear. Run at least a 50/50 mix of 'green' coolant.
