Have a 89 na 210k miles with exhaust and intake. My car gets about 18mpg average and I drive like a granny. Makes snapping noises under heavy accel. I have decent oil pressure when driving around 60psi and when idle after warmed up its around 20-30. Also I wonder because I drove my old 02 corolla with 215k miles and it seemed so much quicker than the supra it has an intake. It did 10-60 in like 7 seconds or less. Any other symptoms or a bhg? Don't all supra blow em by 200k?

Lack of power could be caused by many things. Does the car overheat/Smoke/leak? when was the last time you changed the plugs/wires?

That's crazy high oil pressure.

That's what I was about to say. Typical idle pressure you see is usually between 5 - 12 psi, and normal driving between 25 - 45 psi. Pushing it harder you'd see a bit more, but 60 psi driving normally is on the verge of out of spec high. Spec @ warm idle = 4.3psi, spec @ warm 3k rpm = 36 - 71 psi.

If you're talking 18mpg in town or stop/go traffic, even driving like a granny that's pretty normal. Our cars are only rated 15 city 20 highway new (ref:http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/2008car1tablef.jsp?id=5490).

There's TONS of info on here about BHG's and warning signs. Most obvious ones are checking for oil in coolant, coolant in oil, and white smoke out the tail pipe when warm. If you find one or more of those, do a compression (or even better, leakdown) test and you'll probably have your answer.

Ill explain more. My clutch is slipping it could always be that but it usually only rubs when I shift while throttle. And slips bad then.
But that pressure is fine and normal according to the manual. Are we thinking about something else? The far does burn oil. Bad St first I used ring treatment. I don't smell or see blue smoke on startup anymore so that has slowed down. When I got it I put new plugs wires and dist cap. Plug are probably covered in oil though, like Tue old ones.
Also could anyone explain the snapping sounds from like 4k-6.5k? I mean it sounds like a beautiful supra until I get hard acceleration in high rpms. Somewhat sounds like hillybilly trucks if you know what I'm talking about.
Also the Rad light came on a bunch before. Resivour was full but added some and lint doesn't come on anymore. It would flicker a lot under throttle. Isn't Rad fluid clear? Mine is like dark. I only got the car 10k miles ago. Haven't had any trouble yet. Going to do a swap but I still need to know what's wrong with it.

Well it'd back since cause the car used to burn oil, oil seeking past hte rings into the cylinders.. Also I don't get why you see that pressure being too high. I just checked the manual, says 40-80 normal driving and 10-25 or so in idle. After warm.

The thing is, the 7M is known for having low oil pressure, even though the manual says that it's normal for it to be that high.

When driving around at about 58 mph at 2700 rpm, my oil pressure sits at about 38-39 PSI. I overfill slightly, and my engine burns a small but noticeable amount of oil. So, if you're just driving around and it's THAT high, you could have a serious problem on your hands.

I still don't even get how that's bad if the manual says what it does. But it'd make since, as the oil burns a bit or used ot on start up. So the rings on pistons are leaking, then compression would squeak past to the oil.

This white smoke thing. I know before when it was warmer, sometimes if I barely touch the rev and let off while sitting, there will be like a white poof of smoke. Now there's about always smoke cause there is no cat.

Also the guy who owned this car before only had it for like 10k and never drove it much, only on weekends. The guy before that was a hillbilly. And I can tell he wasn't very inclined with this. As some of the moldings have been drilled in with a screw.

Where at in ohio are you? I live in midwest ohio and if the drive isn't too far I can come help take a look at it. You need to do a leakdown test though to make sure your rings etc.. are in good condition. My na had low compression which made it smoke a little bit from exhaust and not run properly.. Ran like shit until i floored the car into higher RPMs. Let me know, shoot me a PM because Im more on SF then SM.
