I hope you have a garage, if you pay someone to do it it will cost a fortune on a student's budget. You need to take off you head and get it cleaned and milled (should be less than 100). If you also want them to remove the valves and reinstall them than it might cost $200 to do that on a 24valve engine. If your HP goals are moderate you can pick up ARP studs ($120) and a new oem headgasket ($60?). That will get you back on the road. I think I've seen some people pay around $1500 to get the job completely done. But that is a lot for a student.

Remember to flush out all of the old oil and coolant.

Throw a new stock head gasket on with arp bolts and then go to church and get on your knees.

What he said ^ or sell it.

I did this plus new bearings, seals and timing belt, cost me around 500 bucks in all. Been running for 2 years now.

i had a bhg and just got a new oem gasket and re used the stock bolts and torqued down to 72 lbs... no machining of anything and i did it for the cost of the gasket i think it was 90 or something like that maybe? i dunno but its been going strong ever since then... however i am in the process of building an engine , so i really dont care what happens to this engine at them moment i just wanted to drive it. but for atleast 4 months ive been driving it and nothing bad yet.

Spend $180 on a cometic gasket, and do it yourself with time and patience.
Thats all i did 2 years ago and i've been boosting 10psi w/ no head problems AT ALL, i didn't even have the head surfaced (not that i would recommend it, mine was unusually clean)
