My buddy gave me a junk 1991 Celica STX with a couple parts missing from the motor, a completely worn out clutch, no drivers seat, a dismanteled gauge cluster (some parts missing), and most of the interior dismanteled. The body is straight for the most part, but has a small dent next to the drivers side tail light. The motor has about 315k miles on it. It's not worth fixing. Anybody know of the best way to get a chunk of change for this car all at once? I got the car for free, so it's all profit. I have the title (clean Alabama), but the car isn't registered anywhere right now, and doesn't have liscense plates. I want this car gone, and I don't feel like repairing it since it's not worth my time. It's also not worth my time parting it out. I want to get rid of this car, and don't care how. If I were to get it running, it'd only be worth $1700, and that's not worth it to me after what it would cost in parts to get it to that condition. Anybody got any suggestions as to how I can get rid of this thing? I have pics upon request.

In NJ, you can take the car to a junkyard/scrapyard and get money for it because of the scrap metal. You can give that a try to get a couple bucks.

I'd prefer to have cash since I wouldn't get enough for the car for it to be a write-off. That, and I need to pay off some serious debt.

It does not seem like that is going to pay off "serious" debt. A broken car is not going to sell easy to anyone.

i would try the scrap metal first then donation.. How much are you trying to squeeze out of it?

Pull the engine and seperate the Aluminum. It'll bring a bit more.

2 heads, 8 saws, and some other assorted aluminum parts brought me $283. T'was a great day to be me.

I'll take as much as I can get. The amount of money it would cost me to fix this car is too much. Mainly the clutch. I'd be happy with $200. That'll atleast make a nice payment on one of my credit cards. I'll start calling junk yards tomorrow.

I'd still donate it. I donated a 78 Plymouth Volare to Make a Wish, it had a bad tranny and a ton of engine problems, and we got around $600 tax deductible for it. Even if you're having money problems, you can't argue with a deal like that. I'm pretty sure they ensure at least $500 for any cars, working or not.
