I like the HKS type 1 and here's why.
I've had three different timers and here's the low down.
Blitz Dual Timer DC:
Pro's:
-Small face that is only .5" thick, can be mounted almost anywhere.
-Boost sensor, peak warning, etc.
-Lap timers etc.
-Auto mode utilizes boost as main refference for cool down time
Con's:
-Doesn't tick down as you drive good.
-has a large brain which is hard to tuck away under the collumn.
Blitz FATT DC
Pro's:
-Really small, fits anywhere.
-Basic turbo timer functions, lap timer, voltmeter, etc...
Con's:
-Doesn't really reference anything for how long it should cool down other than voltage.
-Almost always cools for 120 sec.
-doesn't tic down for good driving.
HK$ type 1
Pro's:
-Rpm input which decides cooldown time.
-As rpm indicates "good" driving, timer counts down
-Basic turbo timer functions, warnings, etc...
-Speed input for 1/4 times, 0-60 etc...
-Peaks for all inputs
Con's:
-?
The HKS unit is the only one I've used that will actually let the car turn off if you've been driving around at idle speeds for the amount of time it decided you should cool down based on vehicle speed and rpm inputs. This is really convenient because the timer becomes transparent and the only time it actually functions is when it is needed. All other timers will add 3-4 minutes if you rail the piss out of the car. The problem is that after driving around through a neighborhood for 5 minutes finding your friends new appartment complex at 2 AM, you will park your car and go inside while it idles outside for 5 minutes. The latter results in slashed tires which is bad. The HKS timer says "ok, you 've been driving good for the last 10 minutes, so I'm really not needed here" and you get out of the car, and it turns off like a normal car.
Make sense?
