IIRC Zaino doesnt make a wax.. Zaino is a polishing system and takes a long time to apply, the results are nothing short of awesome when used properly. If your car is black (thats what it looks like on my crappy laptop screen).. I recommend using 3M swirl mark remover on a slow polisher.. Then using PS120 wax (available at most Harley Davidson dealers).. Avoid using cleaner waxes, especially on black cars. Cleaner waxes contain rubbing compound and will cause swirl markes galore, no matter how much you apply.

Most of the waxes on the market today will give you a great result if you put a little effort into it.

For a killer look/feel make sure you do the multi-step process.

I have used the same products for the past 10+ years - since I bought my 89T. After I wash the car I do a body scrub once each year (other waxings I do the Clay Bar). I follow that with a nice polish and then finally the wax - with a nice buff at the end. You won't even believe how great your car will look when you do all of this.

I then top it off with a glass polish from Griot's Garage - this makes the glass feel like the freshly waxed paint.

I am using a 5-step process to restore my paint right now...

1. 3M 1000 grit sandpaper
2. 3M 2000 grit sandpaper
3. 3M Heavy-duty Rubbing Compound
4. 3M Hand Glaze
5. Xymol Cleaner wax

It turns out great every time...it feels sooo smoooth too! lol.

Are you having flashbacks???? I see a red MKIV in your avatar!!!!:aigo:

Claybar makes a world of difference in the paint texture..and then a good waxing.

turtle wax has worked great for me and also Nufinish. You can get both at autozone, Nufinish comes in a bright orange bottle so you can't miss it.

i think my poor paint was done with a cleaner wax then...i have some funny swirls that made me think the car was under an abraisive cover and then stuff was on top for a year or more...moving around and scratching it up.

i need to get a good polish and wax on my car and she'll look new.

so the 3m swirl remover and one of those rotating things, then PS120? what's PS 120? lol. we just got a nice big harley shop so thats a plus.

i've heard good things about meguir's and especially their step-by-step system...not sure if its a polish then wax or what though.:icon_conf

my dad said he saw a car done with that stuff and it looked like the paint was wet it was so shiny...like it had just been washed and the water didnt bead up yet.

I do the meguires three stage about once a year, and wax about three times a year... Looks great other than the mismatched hood and bumper... :(

One word of caution on the guys advocating sand paper and heavy cutting compounds.
If your car is still on the factory paint, you might not have alot of clear coat left anymore.

If you sand down throught it, your looking at new paint on that panel, and possibly the entire car.

I have not seen much sucess in just replacing the clear coat, but I don't know why that would not work. (Wet sand the entire car, and apply a few coats of clear over it, but the problem is if your base/color coat is damaged, then your just covering up problems, actually making your problems nice and shiny if you think about it.)

I use Z best Wax. (It's the purpble stuff you buy at trade shows.) It's a mild cleaner wax, and has a high carnuba content, so it hides your scratches pretty well. Only lasts about 3 months however. So you have to do it 4 times a year to keep it looking good.

NuFinish is fun stuff. Put it on and forget it. (Poly finishes are like that.)

is the clear coat only in one spot? if its a small spot you might be able to just sand and overlap one section. but if it were me i would sand the whole car and give it a fresh clearcoat. personally if i were serious about that i would go to a local pro paint shop and ask what to do, then go do it. they can help you with specific steps and give you good materials to work with. My dad and i repaird a nice large fender bender on his truck and repainted a good section of the truck and it turned out great. I think we had some overlap with old and new clearcoat as well.
