www.driftmotion.com That's all you need to know. If you buy it from Aaron, he will give you all kinds of great advice and answer questions for you while you're installing it. That's where I got mine and I would never buy from anyone else. Just my two cents worth.

Why would you want to rebuild it? Their great motors and are relatively low mileage for a car this old. My engine had sixty thousand miles on it, so I'm replacing all of the gaskets, timing belt, thermostat, and a few other things, but it's not necessary. You can install it like it is. They start them up before their shipped to make sure that they run. If you have anymore questions just contact BigAaron on here with a pm, or go to their website and it has their phone numbers on it. www.driftmotion.com

You will need a couple other parts when you get the clip, but Driftmotions clips are pretty good. I'd highly recommend replacing the clutch, seals, and all the belts while you have easy access. And of course replace the radiator just in case. I'd reccommend the Koyo aluminum one (Driftmotion carry's them as well). And if your car is already a manual, you're job will be easier, and you will have an extra tranny to keep and use as a back-up, or sell for extra cash. Driftmotion is the place to buy from. Aaron will tell you everything you need to get. And if you need new OEM parts, Champion Toyota in Texas is the the place. Just ask for Jeff Watson, he hooks us all up. (713)943-7010.

You're going to need special motor mounts because you have a pre 89 (BIC Motorsports sells them), clutch kit, belts, hoses, spark plugs (6097 if I remember right), MKIV throttle cable to make it cleaner (the 1J throttle cable is really long), and if you have an auto like I used to have, you will need the clutch and brake pedals, and probably other misc. clutch related parts. But like I said, it all depends on the clip you get. As far as wiring goes, you will need to extend the harness about 2 1/2 feet. That can take a while. Most of the parts you should get are because you will have easy access to them, and it's cheap insurance. I had my front and rear main oil seals replaced just in case and because once the motor is installed, it can be a pain in the ass to replace them. When your clip comes in, Aaron will be able to tell you what all exactly you're going to need or want to get.

i thought about that much, im gonna order a set of mount adapters from randy later this week, im gonna keep the 6-puck clutch setup off of my 7m currently, can you use the ngk 3330's on the 1J? ive got a bunch of those around the garage, im already manual so i dont think ill need to worry about that too much. do you have to go through toyota to get the main seals? and also ive got some electrician buddys that can extend the harness for me so i think ive got that covered

anything else yall can think off

p.s. i am writing all of this down

If you use the NGK 6097's, gap them at 0.028. You can also use the 3330's as well, same gap I believe. But it is recommended that you change them often (every other oil change). Don't waste money on platinum's or Iridiums like I did. I have a new set of platinums that I haven't and won't install. I'm getting a set of 6097's from now on.

Actually you are verry much set
Because you have manuel you dont have to do an auto/manuel conversion and do a special splice to auto style body harness its simple just splice white/black with blue/black no biggie though..

1BIC motor mounts

2 Use the JZA-70 throttel cable it works fine just trim it to length put it back together not that hard save the 100$

3 Use the JZA-70 tach to avoid issues

3.5 maybe use the oil sender and pressure gauge and ok mointor computer let us know if you want all three sensors / signal you can use these Pressure switch, Pressure sender, Low oil sensor. i decided to use all three.

4 use the hydro fan cooler as a PS line cooler on the low pressure side because the opening on them are both on one side and it is more efficent design mount it between you fmic and radiator.

5 maybe Y pipe while engine is out best time to change it.

6 You can use the bango bolt and high pressure line on your clip used for the hydrofan as the PS high pressure line. saves you 100$ for ps line.

7 use a high cfm efan 100$ & get a complete 2jz waterpump/housing 120$

8 DO NOT EXTEND YOUR HARNESS. while the engine is out route out your speedo hole the same size as the back plate at the speedo hole it is 2 layers thick the outer layer is smaller.
Pull your efi wires though the speedo hole mount your ecu in the factory location hook it up build your body/ecu jumper harness your done.
Also use the JZA-70 efi harness boot at the speedo hole it will fit perfect notch the rubber boot though so you can almost rest your speedo at the boot hole where the wires run through so your wires and speedo go side by side in the same hole it looks so clean and works so perfect you will be happy to drive your car more then a week faster not messing with the wires.

9. use the jdm fuse box/harness that goes from the box to your EA2 connector then all you have to do is splice 2 alternator wires at the fuse box behind the battery.

If you have the parts ready and everything is good to go you can do the complete swap in less then a week.
fumbling through it getting stuff as you need it 2 weeks.

extending the harness add 1-2 weeks unless your on crack and stay op 24-30hrs burning your finger tips rushing something you dont want to rush there is shielded wires also you have to jump using shield jumpers.

Have fun enjoy it let us know your progress and before other people bash what i said extend the harness its not worth it to just pull your wires through the speedo hole.
