Best fuel pump and Walkthrough? Bosch or Walbro or other?

I am thinking about changing my fuel pump because i have the little rpm hop that others have talked about. It just doesn't idle super smooth and also can cut out a bit under full 14lbs of boost. It took me 7 months to build this 1jz and i really don't want to destroy it.

Well, i have done a lot of reading here on different fuel pumps. I have grown interested in the Bosch 044 fuel pump and i wanted to hear what people thought of it. The main concern i have with the walbro is that it is kinda noisy and i really would rather not have another noisy device in my supra. How noisy is the Bosch? Can it directly replace the stock fuel pump like the Walbro?

I am also looking for the good walkthrough on installing an aftermarket fuel pump on the supra. I remember reading it about a year ago, but i have since lost the link. Thanks for reading.

EDIT: Here is an excellent article on many optional fuel pumps for the supra!

Honestly, for pumps I would go with either Denso, or Bosch. Both are OEM quality pumps. Walbros are not. They have a much higer rate of failure then either of the other two (which is also why they're cheaper).

044 is a nice pump, and if properly isolated, is not noisy at all (they use them in porsches from the factory). If not properly isolated, they're loud.

What are your power goals? A MKIV TT pump can handle a lot of power, and it plug-and-play swappable. Mazda Cosmo pumps are even bigger, and fit right in too.

An 044 is designed as an inline pump. You can put it in-tank, it's just a little more work.

I dont have any super high power goals. My most immediate goal is smoothing out my idle and having sufficient fuel at full boost so i dont damage my engine. How much are the stock TT pumps appx? I have seen the bosch going for about 200 dollars or less.

Also can you mention or others mention which exact model numbers would be good choices from these manufacturers. I want this thread to be a really good overview of fuel pump options. I wasnt able to find a super good all encompassing thread on all the super pump options.

This is what I just installed in my 1JZ Cressida, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1993...006QQitemZ160181535412QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

It's SUPER quiet, no louder than stock and was a competely direct swap out for the stock Toyota pump which was really nice compared to fabbing and cutting wires and stuff for the Walbros, it's also about twice as fat as the little tiny 255 lph Walbros... "so you know it's good". Supposed to flow 280lph, but that's pretty much only when it's getting 14+ volts to it.

The stock MKIV pump, from the results I've seen posted, has a huge variance in flow, depending on the voltage. At 13.5v, the stock MKIV pump outflows the Walbro at all but very high pressures.

Best fuel pump in the world is right here, not only can you upgrade your fuel lines/rail/regulator with them but their fuel pump is top of the line also!
img-2-1-large.jpg

hands down better then two walbros or two mkiv pumps it actualy provides smooth fuel to the rated hp the walbro i think at most is rated for 450-500hp running a little lean these can go up to 800, 1000hp and thats rated at EFI/Forced Induction
