Hey

So I've decided to go ahead and buy a new battery. What would you guys recommend? I've heard good things about Optima Redtop or Odyessy etc..

At this point , I'm only putting the best in my car so money isn't really a factor with battery selection. Obviously looking for one with high CCA's.

Suggestions?

Die hard platinum. I run the biggest battery Sears had in stock. Waaaayy more cca than the factory battery.

It's the same thing as the optimas, but in a more classy, less ricey package.

Anything that isn't a typical lead/acid battery. basicly any of the "sealed" batteries will work fine, just find one that fits and supplies enough CCA.

Also keep in mind that our cars run reverse poles compared to normal batteries. No, this doesn't mean that you put the red wire on the negative, it means that the contacts are switched. On my car I had to repair my wires anyway, so I extended them so I could use a normal battery.

Also, as they have a warranty, you don't buy them online ;)

I've been running an Optima Red Top for about 22 months now, and it helped get the car started even on -30°F mornings, with 15w40 Rotella in the engine... Needless to say, they're good batteries.

I've had nothing but good luck from the Autozone gold top batteries. The one in my T-bird lasts 2-3 months of sitting before going dead, and I replaced the last one after about 7 years of use. It's made by Johnson Controls, who also makes the Optima brand, and it has a great warranty which really is all that matters. Free 3yr replacement is hard to beat.
