ok, im getting ready to put in my new turbo and had a great idea(i think). im going with a 60 trim ct-26 and thought about porting the exaust manifold.
im also wondering about spool time with the bigger turbo versus a stock ct.

anyone got some good insight?????

Wouldn't porting the exhaust manifold be a bad idea? I know you do not want to port the exhaust ports on the head because you want to have as much pressure as possible to spool the turbo right or am I way off?

i was under the idea that the more air to pass the hot side of the turbo the faster it is gonna spool up. but then again, i could be wrong. the more air you get out of the engine = more air you can pack into the engine.

It is insanely expensive to get the manifold ported as well. Not worth it in the long run.

extrude honing is like 600 buck too.

For a power goal like that I would not be using anything short of a full kit like HPF or any of the full SP kits.

machine shop prices are not my concern. i can have it done through the shop i work at for next to nothing. like milling my head cost me less that $200 even. and thats the whole nine yards(valve grind, port/polish, new valve guides, yadda yadda yadda.)

i went to wall mart and bought a cheapass 15$ air die grinder. i already had bits, im sure the bits more than the grinder was ...it took me a few hrs too match the turbo flange on the manifold to the flange gasket. I smoothed out the inside casting marks and opened it up alot inside and make it flow. It did seem to "feel" quicker. but i had high expectations.. lol It sure didnt seem to make it spool any slower for sure.. so i think its good.. more air flow cant be a bad thing..

i didn't port my exhaust manifold much, but i did my best to polish it as much as possible and get rid of the big lumps inside of it from the studs for the heat shields. I did all htat for my first supra, but got another with a BHG before i finished my first one and ended up using it on the new one so i don't have any comparison really (firs supra=5 spd, 2nd supra=auto), but it sure does spool really well.
