hey ya'll

i'm not sure how to make this work

but it seems the zt2 doesn't have this incorporated into their wb02

so what i wanna do is.. when afr's reach say 12.5:1 i want something to BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP

lol

how can i do this?

thanks :D

Might be tricky and I'm no electrical expert but you'd have to calibrate an audio device (speaker or whatever) to react to the exact voltage produced by the wideband at 12.5:1 AFR.. Sounds like a fun project :)

k... i thought of a way.. but i don't know how to connect it up and use relays etc to actually make it work

open loop works off the tps at a certain voltage doesn't it?

so... connect wire from tps.. when reaches open loop (70%??) then it crosses power to a relay? which then powers up the beeper wire connected to the wideband voltage wire so that when 1.71v is reached then the beeper goes beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep!

so... for a completely non electrically minded person

how does that theory sound?

Sounds like you've got the idea, although I'm not sure about the specifics of the TPS. I *think* it is based on resistance and goes to infinite ohms (open switch) when you go to WOT.

ninja edit: nm it doesn't go to infinite ohms, but the resistance goes up as you open the throttle

The ECU will not automatically go into open loop (pig rich condition) when the TPS exceeds a certain value. I found this out by wiring a spare TPS so I could actuate it by hand from within the vehicle, to whatever value I wanted while driving.

It must look for some load (airflow/rpm) value in combination with the TPS.

But to make a voltage sensitive switch, you need to use a comparator IC chip. It's easy enough that any kid taking high school electronics classes could make it work. You can always stroll down to the local high school and ask the teacher to give it to one of his students as a project. We used to do stuff like that all the time, and it'll cost less than 10 bucks in parts.

I don't really know since I only played with the GTE, but I would think so.

The Zt-2 has an analog wideband output from what I see. Is that temperature compensated signal, or just the raw data? I can't find much info on it.

If it's already compensated (processed) than you can build your buzzer from parts available even at Radio Shack. :)

Edit: Err, assuming you have Radio Shack on your little island, way down there!

Hey, Zeitronix has teamed with Digital Tuning Inc. to make software to utilize a Palm to data log. One on the features it shows is to set an alarm. Now sure if you can program it to take into account other factors before setting off. But something to check into. :)
