Been lurking a while, still no supra

Well I joined a few months back when I was looking for a MKIII. Couldn't find one in my price range at the time.
I ended up with a 89 RX-7 convertible with a turbo II motor swap. It was a great deal as the car came with enough spare / performance parts to fill a 5x10 storage unit, and a v8 swap kit that usually runs $1,500 by itself.
the car itself was kind of a half completed project. It was together enough to drive back from kentucky to north carolina. But i've spent a ton of time and a little money getting all the loose ends tied up.
fast forward to now, still have the RX, like it a lot, but I still find myself wanting a MKIII. I'm kind of torn, the 7 could look as great as it drives with just some good wheels put on it, but my mind keeps wandering to the MKIII's

is there any cure or do i just need to get my hands on a supra ASAP?

lol, trying to do that too. selling a convertible in the winter time is like trying to sell a motorcycle. people just aren't interested until the weather is nice out. by then i'll probably have 17" bbs' on and want to keep the thing :)
people shy away from higher mileage rotaries too, even though this one runs great and doesnt eat coolant or burn oil. i guess if life were easy it wouldnt be any fun

There is only one solution, buy a supra and then the rx-7 will have a friend. you don't SELL cars, you buy MORE cars.

Agreed, Keep the RX7 and wait until you have the money to keep it up.

Welcome and when you buy a Supra choose wisely. I had the choice between a turbo and non-turbo, I wisely chose the non-turbo because I'm not old enough to hold a job good enough to keep the turbo one up. Plus I'm not going to have enough money to pay turbo insurance, that still gives me the option to swap a 2jz with n/a insurance and a rust-free body

i wish i could own 2 cars. I tried that once, i ended up driving the fun car all the time.
there is a guy making an offer on the 7 this weekend. we'll see how that goes. i might be in a MKIII sooner than i thought!

csnow, i do have a v8 swap kit... but that rout is $$$$

i'm a big fan of inline-6 motors, my previous car being a RB20 (the little sibling of the rb26 and 26 motors) swapped 240sx. they sound great, are smooth, and make good power. i will say thought that the turbo rotary is a damn fun motor. if it just sounded a bit better (like a 4 rotor) it would completly rock. oh yeah, and the reliability thing... but we won't jinx mine by talking about that now.

st2b, my last 2 cars have had turbo's. i can't go back to NA now :) i've been spoiled
coincidentally, i bought the 7 in Versailles, KY. small world!

Good luck with the sale and getting a good condition MKIII. You sound like a decent guy and someone who will appreciate their MKIII, their are a few out there who are plain....well just not worthy or even looking at one for too long. they get to look, soak up the goodness.

I suggested keeping the rx-7 only because my motto is if I ever get a car that I like, I keep it, period. the supra is the first in my line. the only other..."car" I know I will buy and never get rid of is an H1 :icon_bigg

I see a lot more good condition rx-7's for sale than MKIII's so it doesn't worry me too much to try and find another FC later on thats in good condition.
and to be honest, the 7 is nice, but its not really growing on me. I wanted a MKIII for such a long time i just need to go do it and get another 7 later if the rotary bug bites me again.

I definitly appreciate every car I have owned. I'm pretty anal about maintenece. Sometimes i let the washings slip a little, but I still try to keep my rides clean and at least brake dust free. at least i don't have to worry about lots of road salt in the winter time here :)

Thought about the v8 swap rout, it ends up being $$$. lots and lots of $$$
I have a buyer for my rx-7 now and there is a clean MKIII in atlanta that i should be able to pick up. i'll post pics if and when it happens :)
