Well I was running around on saturday picking up some car parts and such. I was coming down circle drive, the major street in my city and I was turning left. I noticed a green MK4 in a parking lot to my right. They are pretty rare around here so it was a sight to see. I was thinking it would be fun to have a run with him, but he wasnt in his car. So I carry on with my day...

After Im done picking stuff up and Im heading home, who do I see in front of me? So I sped up a bit and let him hear the BOV. He has a big grin on his face. It was to wet in the city to do anything. I pulled up on his passanger side at a red light. His daughter rolled down the window and I told her we should take this to the highway. She turned to her dad and then looked back at me and said okay let go.

We head out to the highway. He doesnt even give me a chance to get up beside him before he opens it up. So I start out chasing him down. I begin catching up with him but had to shut down because of cars ahead. Once we got past the cars I pull up next to him and drop it into 4th. I wait for him to get on it and sure enough he does. So I put the peddle down and started to pull on him. I get to about 5500rpm in 4th and shift. He starts catching up a little bit because he was an auto but once again I start pulling on him, I get about a car length in front and shut down.

He tried chasing after me a few other times after this when he was behind me and I did 5th gear pulls and I kept pulling away from him. It was pretty fun and definitly made my day.

He was a auto 2JZ-GTE with exhaust.

Me: 7mgte, 3" exhaust all the way back. RC 550's, llexus afm, k&N filter, was only running 0.54 bar at the time.

You outran a MKIV with seven pounds of boost? Are you sure he wasn't NA? Good kill either way, and MKIV's are not only rare around here, they're extinct.

good kill i guess, it just seems not to add up at all. I mean 7lbs with those mods....he should have pulled you with ease. I personally put down 260RWHP/TQ on 7lbs on a tune with all my mods. I only got to about 7lbs b/c of some major boost leaks that the ECU didn't pick up on.

On another note. What kind of father goes street racing with his daughter?!?!?!!?! idiot

He said he had a miss-fire problem apparently.. though it seemed to be running good, but then again I wasnt in the car.

Maybe I just got lucky. :icon_bigg

I don't know, man. My MKIV is stock, plus 3 inch exhaust and that's it. My buddy and I did a few 40 mph pulls with his 5 speed turbo mkiii. He has hardpipes, a 60-1 upgraded ct26 running 12 psi steady (according to his AVCR), intake, and full 3 inch exhaust. He'd immediately get about 1 or 2 cars on me (I don't get to practice pulls very often), and then I'd reel him in easy and go by him hard. Not saying it couldn't have happened, but it seems hard to believe that with your mods and only 7 psi you'd take down a stock MKIV, unless he's having engine problems or is an NA.

I get beaten in "races" all the time... I'm not racing however, just the other car is...

If you beat a MKIV TT with a stock turbo 7M running 7 psi the MKIV wasn't racing.

At 7 psi you aren't leveraging your mods at all. You're a 230 hp 3,600 lb car. The entire point of all your other mods is to support more boost in order to make more power. At 7psi, you're making stock power, or damned close to it.

Stock the MKIV makes 100 more horsepower than that, and is a lighter car as well.

Well he was racing.. But Im sure he was having some engine problems. In the end, it still felt good. :icon_bigg Ill work on getting the video up tommorow. Im the video start pulling on him slowly, then when I shift to 5th he starts pulling back up on me, slowly... and then I start pulling away and shut down.

Dont have to believe me, I just thought it was pretty sweet. :icon_razz

Also, I was only running 7lbs because my electron boost controller decided to stop working. Now im running .85 bar on my turbosmart MBC.

I'd like to see the video and I"m not trying to start a bon fire on your behalf, but you've got to look at it logically from our stand point. We weren't there, but he should be able to pull you if he's running on five cylinders. If his car is missing worse than that, he shouldn't have been driving it. Even at 12-13 psi of boost, he should beat you easily. It sucks I know, but it's the truth.............:dunno:

Yeah I know where your all coming from. I was really suprised when I started to pull, and I was expecting to lose to him from the beggining. Ill see what I can do with the video, its in 3gp format.

Ive been thinking of taking a dyno run also. Hmm...

If he'd get 1-2cars a head of you it's illogical that you could pass him when you have 6gears which means more frequent shifting which means quicker to drop boost then spool again which is the part where he leaves you... that mk3 also sounds like it has something wrong... not saying I don't believe you with that statement but it also sounds wrong...

Also if you're stock twin turbo's should be a lot less lag than a 60-1... so that's even more to your story not adding up.

Back to this guy with the mk3... I don't know... a stock mk4 is quick but it is at most only 320hp at the crank...

I was going to post a long reply, but I'm lazy right now. His car is down atm, but we were going to get something on video. He says he wants to swap in a 1 or 2JZ motor, so he may be down for a little while. I'll see if i can get him to post. And btw, i also own 2 near stock mkiii turbos, have been a Supra Turbo owner since 1995, I should know what I'm talking about. Neither one pulls as hard. :evil2: At any rate, nope, no stock mkiii is going to take down a stock mkiv, unless such mkiv is running like on 4 cylinders or something. Or is not even racing.
