Battery Not Charging....

friends mk3's battery isnt charging, checked wiring, wasnt able to see anything. New Red top optima and new alternator from pepboys. Any ideas? only gettin code 51....please help.

fuses are good. changed them anyway and still nothin.

i would just bring to sears and ask them to check it. it's like 10 bucks i believe.

Does "battery light" come on, when you turn ignition key, but not starting engine? If not - check fusible links and connectors (near left driver's foot).
If light comes on, check your alternator itself.

PS: you may also check charging system by measuring voltage on alternator's plug connector. Valtage should appear there when you turn on ignition.
