bang ?

Put my car in reverse [w58] to leave this morning and heard a loud.....bang.
Went on my way and drove fine..Put it in reverse to back into my driveway again.. BANG !
ideas?

Chipped off gear tooth on the reverse idler. When the gear spins around and gets to the missing tooth, BANG. My DSM was doing this for a week till the chipped off tooth floating in the oil got jammed into 3rd gear and blew the whole transmission.

That's the only thing I can think of that would only make a bang noise in reverse.

try putting the car in first and than reverse.Thats the best I could think of since i can't here the bang

Is it when you put the trans into gear, or when you go to move?
Maybe loose driveshaft bolts?

It bangs right when I put int in gear.

I can gear gift from any gear 1-5 ..It'll still bang when it goes into R.

Does it do it if you go 1-R or 3-R?
Mine grinds or clunks sometimes unless I do. Mines a r154 tho.

No, Doesnt matter.
I can go from 1- R , 2 - R, 3 - R... etc.
Still Bangs.

Well this is fixed..I have no clue on how but after the installed the billyM shift - gasm kit....It stopped, lol.
