I was wondering if the crank pulley/balancer bolt is a right hand or left hand thread? I need to take mine off but cant remember which way it comes off.

just do what i did. take off the oil pan and stock a big rag on one of the connecting rod areas. then turn the connecting rod so it locks up on the rag and then use a big breaker bar to break it loose. you wont damage any part of the motor this way and it'll come off smoothly.

I tried my breaker bar with a pipe on it but I couldnt get it. I had the car in 5th( manual tranny) and the ebrake on as hard as I could. It wasnt budging. My manual says its torqued to 194 ft-lbs:aigo:. what were they thinking. All the engines Ive ever done were between 50-80 ft-lbs.

My breaker bar is 20" and my pipe is 36''. Withe the overlapping its a total of 48" with all my strength. It wasnt coming off.

Yes I have my starter but I would perfer not to do it that way.
