bad u-joint (non-replaceable type), what now?

To be clear, I already had a 1PC driveshaft, and I am in no way interesting in going that route again.

Anyhow, my current driveshaft was acquired to replace the 1PC but has since developed a metallic squeaking noise at low speeds. Today, I replaced the carrier bearing hoping that was the issue, especially considering there was play in the older unit. After completing the job, much to my dismay, this did not fix the issue.

At this point, I am convinced it is the u-joints, well most likely just one (singular). The issue (stated in the title as well) is that these appear to be non-replaceable in design, which I have read about in the past on the forums.

My question is can I do anything to replace them? drilling the metal out? getting new ends welded on? I would really like to keep this shaft after all that has been done.

Thank you all for your time.

would this apply for the Supra shaft: http://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=517657

Might try a local driveshaft shop to see if they can replace it. Our local guy can work wonders.

Also, what didn't you like about the 1 piece? I was considering one if the carrier turns out to be too bad on my stock shaft.

yeah, I just got that bewildered feeling that's common when one fails at something after a lengthy or expensive process.

guess I'll take a trip down to the local shop and see if they can do something.. I want to say Previa u-joints are able non-replaceable, and my dad went to someplace and seemed to have it solved. I didn't find much in the search for Supras though, perhaps it's because I'm in a less than terrific mood at the moment.
