So i got my car running and cleared both codes 51 and 52. But the car doesnt want to idle on its own unless i open the bypass screw on the throttle body. According to tps write ups the screw is suppose to be closed. When i tryed to re calibrate the tps i wouldnt get a resistance reading on my multimeter. Can this just be a bad tps?
i did clean my iscv but still wouldn't idle on its own.Cant seem to find the problem to the last piece of the puzzle :1zhelp:

I think if the tps has a bad IDL contact, this can cause the IACV to remain inoperative.
But i dont know if a bad tps would cause stalling, just a 'hunting' idle.

Test your tps via the TSRM procedure.

If you aren't getting a resistance reading on anything then I'd suspect your tps is bad. Or you don't have the multimeter on the right settings.

i just didit over again aand and read 40-60 ohms so i tightened the screws turned on the car and still wouldnt idle on its own. Dont have any codes so thats no help. Throttle response still feels alittle slugish if everything is correct with my sensors the only thing i can think of is a massive leak? Soooo big it wont even idle lol

i was acualy reading the wrong contacts on the tps. my fault..

Are you calibrating the tps by loosening the two screws and moving it, or by just using the throttle screw? You can't use the throttle screw to adjust the tps.

Have you checked to see if timing lines up? Put the cam gears at tdc and see if the crank pulley is at 0. Sometimes the CPS can be a tooth off and the car won't start/idle.

When calibrating the TPS you need to first check that the throttle stop screw and dashpot are set correctly.

Steps to cal TPS
1) Idle screw all the way in
2) Throttle stop screw set correctly
3) Dashpot set correctly
4) Cal TPS

I loosen up the tps a move it to calibrate it. I followed the tsrm but car still doesnt want to idle on its own and timing lines up fine but I havnt been able to time it with a gun since it wont idle on its own

So has it been timed at all or has the CPS recently been taken off

The only timing ive done was align the the cams and crank and moved the cps a tooth back so when it goes in the notches align. i did this with the cps cap off. It runs fine with my foot on the pedal. has a slight misfire but spark plugs are ready to go. Will timing really cause a complete stall if its alittle of timing??

It can. Sometimes it can be too retarded and won't run. Pull the CPS up will retard and pushing it down will advance. If you have the tps set correctly, I'd try moving the CPS a little up and down and see if you can get it to start. It's very common for people to be a tooth off.

The car does start tho it just doesnt idle unless I keep my foot on the peddle bit ill give tht a try

You have to set timing with a timing light with TE1 jumpered! If you haven't done that basic step then forget about everything else.
Yes but you can't set it until the car runs lol.

Exacly!! I Know your suppose to set the timing with te1 jumped but how do you do that when the car wont idle.

Get a helper to feather throttle to keep it running.

Battery light and rear tail light inspection came on in the cluster. Im not sure if i remember correctly but does that mean the alternator is going bad? Correct me if I'm wrong. And is there a difference between a non turbo and turbo alternator?
