new here and havin bad times with supra. Bought it a couple of months ago with a rod knock. Cranked to up here it then it locked up. Found another 7m with 90,000 miles, put new rod bearings in and checked the mains, got the head surfaced and put it all in the car with a felpro HG and stock head bolts at 75lbs. Turbo had shaft play so i got another one with NONE and put it in. One week later i took it to the drag races and 3 passes later it looked like a steam train, forgot to retorque. Bought a new felpro that weekend and put it on. I actually put it on without removing the intake :icon_bigg , took it for a spin and my turbo made a screeching noise, it sucked up a little piece of my old brittle accordian hose, took it off and it had some really messed up fins and a broken shaft. Then i put my old turbo back on. Next weekend im drivin down the highway and start to pass someone and it starts detonating horribly. I get home and its now making a knocking noise in between 1700rpm and 2300rpm. After lots of checking i found my hoses on my valve covers are broken so it was a bigg vacuum leak. I borrow a borescope to look down the spark plug hole and see that the #1 piston is cracked from one exhaust valve relief to the other one. :icon_evil

I love my supra :nono:

OUCH

i have ha dbad luck too but sounds like your about to burn it LOL

"opinion"

you could e-bay an engine kit for 300-400 bucks and go 20 ove ron pistons, and do a full rebuild
have the block and head machined for a metal head gasket (120-200 for mhg) and have a solid starting point ..

really is the best place to start off, i picked up an ebay kit haven't used it yet but every thing looks great. and is all NPR stuff.

food for thought.

oh dont go jdm imported route, i had a bhg from the get go, a cracked block,

and by the itme i tried the mhg route i didn't have the block machiend and blew that too, turned out the block had a low spot inbetween cylinders..

either way fun stuff, just rebuild and know you have a better enigne.
