Ok so like I said earlier, I got my car running and all has been fine and dandy. I only have a problem that has just recently reared its ugly head. My car was fine untill late sunday evening. It just started sputtering and jerking like I was hitting fuel cut. Funny thing is I havnt been boosting. I was thinking that the gas I had in my car had gone bad. My timing is at 12*BTDC and its still poping. My thoughts are that I have some how gotten air into the fuel system via a hole in the lines somewhere, or maby a leak arround a fuel injector. Or just the gas that had been sitting since december in the car. There was a full tank when I took it down and since that I have put 68 miles on the head.

Any experances with things similar to this? Or advice? Thanks for listening guys and gals.

hmm.
No codes, I assume.
Maybe a poor reading from the AFM?
Gas is usually good for a year or more in a tank...

Oh im sorry, I jumpped the Te1 and E terminals and got a 24 and a 51. What are those anyway?

*EDIT* just looked them up, both are related to the AFM and then again both are realted to the ECU. Maby I have a bad connection in the ecu?

Bingo, 24 = afm temp sensor, so I'd check the AFM connector for stiff, frayed wires, and go from there.
51 is tps, or ac if the AC was on during the check...
TPS means there was nop idle contact during the diagnostic check, have you replaced the tps lately?

Chances are, if you just got it running, that the TPS is misadjusted. Follow the steps outlined in the TSRM. You'll need a feeler gauge and some patience.

I have not replaced the TPS I tested it last night and it was all with in spec. I think my AFM connection is just a POS. The clip broke on it and I am just using some tie wraps to hold th connector on the AFM itself. Ill check the wires tonight at my shop.

Thanks you have been a big help. I thought it was the haji mart gas I bought.

I've had a bit of experience with gas sitting too long in the tank. Also I recently read an article in MOTOR mag on this.
Gasoline may not be what you pay for. You might get regular thru the premium pump. The mag went all over the country testing gas at all brands of stations.

The various ingredients in the gas (and there are several different chemicals in it) will start seperating after a couple of weeks of sitting. After 2 months, you've got a lot of the 'heavier' components sitting on the bottom of the tank (where the pump pickup sits).

So when you start the car, the pump picks this stuff up first.

Also, gas sits in the lines and injectors until it evaporates away, leaving varnish, gums, and gunk.

Injectors can clog up and be ruined. ie: the '91 brand new looking corvette with 44k on it that came in running crappy because he let it sit for a year. We had to replace ALL 8 injectors because 4 had plugged solid, and NO gas would go thru. We tried cleaning them, but still bad. $1300 bill.

Our suggestion is , if you must let it sit for more than a couple of months, drain the gas, and run it till it dies. When your ready to drive it again, put new gas in, and some injector cleaner in too.

At least add some cleaner in and run it a few miles before parking it.
