ok my 7mgte afm was making a puffing noise, which caught my attention so i checked the ohms and this is what i got:

red termonal: ks
blk termonal: e1 got a 1 (which is what the ohm meter reads when not connected to anything)

blk: ks
red: e1 got a 105.1 reading ( its supposed to be 5-10)

red: vc
blk: e1 got a 122.9 reading (supposed to be 10-15)

blk: vc
red: e1 got a reading of 69.6 (supposed to be 5-10)

all of these tests were done on the 200k ohm setting.:nono:

this is guna be my daily that i got to get in to daily condition so help is urgent and great appriciated.

Considering those checks aren't in the TSRM, ignore them.

My Haynes manual is collecting dust on a shelf since it completely ignores a torque spec for the cam cover bolts. Half the info is wrong or from an earlier generation of the supra.

Also, how is your AFM making a puffing noise?

when i start it it has an idle of like 450ish so i jus press against the tb linkage so it starts picking up revs then i hear a puff..... puff puff from the afm. could it be leaning out wen i give it revs??

Those checks are not only correct but actually are in the TSRM. Just not the Cygnus one. In fact there's lots of good stuff missing from the 89 and later manuals. I'd still throw the Haynes in the trash though...

I Have the EXACT same problem RIGHT THIS MOMENT. It died on me in 1st gear so i started it back up & gave more gas & fuel cut kicked in. (i know because it was just like this video >>> (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vok0UUCcRzc)) & i got down, car is on & start moving the TB/accelerating & i noticed this odd noise coming from the AFM that i've never heard before. Theres was oil in the accordion hose & in the AFM housing so i bought the AFM cleaner stuff from Oreilly. cleaned it up. installed & now i get code 31 & when i hit the throttle it dies.... every single time. AFM is F*cked & so is my Turbo :3d_frown:

NEVER use that cleaner, it's for hot wire MAF's not AFM's.

Too late... Im going to go pull off an 1UZFE AFM tomorrow. Idk if it'll fit or if its still around which i doubt but hopefully ill find something. & the can say its for AFM, etc.

that seems like what my car is doin but im not driving hell im way below idle. which is throwing me for a loop. and its not nearly as violent as that maybe because im at such a low rpm???

is my afm making it hit fuel cut?? dont seem possible but then again i dont know every thing.
or could my injectors be clogging and leaning out the afrs and making the afm puff?

also i did notice some oil sesidue in my accordian pipe. not alot though. does this mean my turbo could be on its way out??

these are the only things i can think of if u guys need more info ill gladly provide, and if u have any suggestion i have open ears. thanks again guys.

It's not fuel cut. You need to verify all the basics. Valve and ignition timing, vacuum leaks, firing order, spark plugs, plug wires, fuel pressure, hoses hooked up right, stuff like that. And again, check for codes. Read the manual and always start with the basics.

Some oil in the accordion is normal. As Devin said it's from the PCV system. Don't worry about it...

Its not SOME oil... ITS A LOT. some creeps out through the air filter onto the chassis. Not sure about Fuel cut but what i experience is the car starts shaking extremely violent in WOT/in full boost (stock) & the RPM drops, i let go of the gas & it stops. The only engines codes i've got were 52 & 31

i havnt done anything to the valves so they should be ok, ignition is most likly off but initally i was trying to time it. i got all new hoses so im sure no vaccum leak but il check again. im pretty sure firing order is right. its 1,6 3,4 2,5 if i remember correctly, i could have it wrong though. spark plugs are brand new got a couple shitty starts on them. il check the plug wires, what should i look for splits, kinks, etc? il let you know what i find on them. aeromotive fpr gauge says roughly 38psi. and il check the hose layout to make sure they're right.

thank all you guys a billion il check this list off and get back to you asap!

how do i check for codes? what terminals do i jump in the daignois box? then i just watch and count the blinks of the check engine light correct?
